Album review

Review
Bruno Mars - Doo-Wops & Hooligans

The album was released on 4th October 2010 and reached number three on the Billboard 200. The hit song of the album 'Just The Way You Are' was on the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for 4 consecutive weeks and in total of 48 weeks. Two other of his hit songs were 'Grenade' and 'The Lazy Song'.

The album's first song is 'Grenade', this song highlights his strong feelings towards a woman he loves. He uses many examples to present his love for this woman such as saying 'I'd jump in front of a train for ya' and 'I would die for you'. This makes you feel emotional and is a great start to the album as you will wonder what the upcoming songs will be about.
The second song 'Just The Way You Are' contrasts with the first as the melody is much more positive and good to listen to. He talks about the perfections of this girl through the catchy chorus. I personally preferred this song to the first one as I felt the tune was catchy and nice to listen to however after listening to a few times my opinion of it has changed slightly as I find it less meaningful compared to the other songs in this album.
Moving on to the 4th track 'Runaway Baby', I quite like this song as it is very upbeat and a song you could easily dance to. It makes you feel happy unlike some of the other songs which might make you feel emotional such as 'Talking To The Moon' as we can understand that he is referring to some sort of regret or loss.

The next song 'The Lazy Song' is completely different as it moves away from the love and relationships and reflects on the feelings of a lot of people -laziness. The beat of the song is quite fun and cheerful which makes it easy to listen to and enjoyable.
Finally the last few songs goes back to the theme of love with 'Marry You', 'Talking To The Moon' and 'Somewhere In Brooklyn'. Meanwhile 'Count On Me' talks about strong friendship and this is one of my favourites of the album as it reminds me to be grateful of the friends around me.

Overall I think this album is full of mixed emotion songs which is suitable for a lot of people with the variety it contains. The many enjoyable songs vary from slow and emotional to happy, fast and upbeat which is why it draws so many people to listen to this album.
